OVERVIEW
My time with NMSU's Marketing & Communications department was where much of my early design practice took shape. Working within the university's visual identity allowed me to not only better understand brand identity, but how to apply it across print, digital and editorial design. From individual campaigns and editorial prints to large scale pieces, this collection brings together selected works from that period.
Research and Creativity Week
Each November, NMSU celebrates all aspects of  scholarly research and creative activity. In 2019, I created this poster for an anonymous design competition among graphic design students. My concept was selected by the Marketing & Communications department and continued as the event's annual design through 2021.
I built the concept around the idea that research and creativity rarely follow linear paths. The maze became a way to visualize exploring possibilities towards an idea or solution with the line work analogous to the contour structures of the brain.

Shaping the Future - College of Education Newsletter
Working within NMSU's established brand and publication guidelines, I designed the layout for the College of Education's newsletter. With the copy and images provided by the editorial team, I shaped each page through composition, typography and image placement while still finding ways to keep information clear.
I also designed supporting elements like infographics and pull quotes, preparing the final publication with the correct color modes and specifications to match the printer selected for production.

New Mexico Premiere Transportation and Construction Conference
With NMSU serving as the host, I used the university's iconic crimson and supporting accent as a starting point when developing the conference's program visual direction. I decided on the typography before choosing geometric graphic elements that complemented it while incorporating required sponsor logos and provided photography.
Working within those requirements, I primarily focused on creating a cohesive system that could organize the conference's program and information while still allowing its own visual identity.
